Statutory Free School Meals - All You Need To Know

For every successful NEW application for Statutory Free School Meals (FSM), you will receive a free school sweatshirt or cardigan for your child.

Parents/carers receive holiday supermarket vouchers (for a supermarket of your choice) for each child who is entitled to a Statutory Free School Meal - this can be as much as £70 per child in the summer holiday.

For every child that is in receipt of a Statutory Free School Meal, school receives £1380 - this allocation of funding is used for resources, intervention support and enrichment activities. For more information, please see our Pupil Premium Report.

What is the difference between Universal Free School Meals and Statutory Free School Meals?

Universal Free School Meals are available to ALL children in EYFS, Y1 and Y2.

Statutory Free School Meals are for children between the age of 4 and 16 who attend school full-time, and, whose families meet the qualifying criteria below.

 

Do I qualify?

To qualify, you or your partner must be in receipt of one of the following:

  • Income support
  • Jobseekers Allowance Income Based
  • Employment Support Allowance Income Related
  • Support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit - your letter must show you have an income of less than £16,190 and you do not get Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - your income must be less than £7,400 per year.
